Philip B. Meggs Memorial Scholarship Fund, Painting + Printmaking

The Philip B. Meggs Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in Professor Meggs’ memory by his wife, Libby Meggs, and his many colleagues and friends. A double alumnus of Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts, Professor Meggs began teaching at the University’s Communications and Arts and Design Program in 1968. He chaired the department from 1974 to 1987, during which time enrollment in the department doubled and the program rose to national prominence. The scholarship rotates annually between the Graphic Design, Painting and Printmaking, Illustration, and English departments. The scholarship is awarded by a specially appointed committee to full-time seniors during their final semester as undergraduates who have performed and produced at the highest level during their years of study in that department.
