Richard Carlyon Student Research Fund for Independent Study, Communication Arts

The Richard Carlyon Student Research Fund for Independent Study was established in honor of Richard Carlyon, who taught at VCU’s School of the Arts in five departments. Professor Carlyon’s commitment to teaching was honored in 1993, as he was singled out for the Award for Distinguished Teaching of Art by the College Art Association. The Fund is awarded to students who are second-semester, full-time undergraduate seniors in the departments of Art History, Communication Arts, Dance, Painting and Printmaking, and Sculpture, and who demonstrate a GPA of 3.5 or better in their major area of study.
