Marika L. Byrd Merit Scholarship
The Marika L. Byrd Merit Scholarship was established by Marika L. Byrd (B.G.S.’92), a graduate of the nontraditional studies program who served as a member and former president of the Nontraditional Studies Alumni Council at VCU. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time rising junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better and who is pursuing a degree to support a new career or profession. Preference will be given to a double major in disciplines represented by the College of Humanities and Sciences departments, schools and programs. If a candidate with a double major is not available, the award can be made to a student who otherwise fits the above criteria pursuing a single major in the College of Humanities and Sciences. If applicable, the scholarship can be renewed for an additional three years provided the student maintains the required GPA and remains in the College of Humanities and Sciences.
Please note: If the current recipient is renewed per the terms of this scholarship, applications to the current cycle will not be considered. We do encourage applications during each cycle should the current recipient not be renewed.
