Markel Scholarship in Engineering

The Markel Scholarship in Engineering was established by the Markel Corporation for VCU Business and Engineering students. The scholarship will be awarded to full-time undergraduate juniors, who qualify for institutional, state, and/or federal financial aid, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (from either VCU or their transferring institution), and are pursuing an engineering degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Preference will be given to students who exhibit the qualities of the Markel Style: honest and fairness, a commitment to success and the spirit of teamwork to achieve success, a zealous pursuit of excellence and a commitment to one’s community. The preferred ratio of recipients shall be 2:1 business to engineering.

The award is eligible for a one-time renewal for a student’s full-time senior year contingent on available funds and the student meeting all other eligibility criteria described in this agreement. Part-time seniors qualify for renewal, if their part-time status is a result of meeting all graduation requirements at the end of the semester.
