Silva-Patykula Merit Scholarship in Music
The Silva-Patykula Merit Scholarship in Music was established in 1991 to assist talented guitarists in the Department of Music. Jesus Silva was the musician-artist-in-residence at VCU from 1979-82. The scholarship supports talented classical guitar students who demonstrate potential and excellence while pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree (Performance or Music Education) or a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music or a Minor in Music in the Department of Music at VCU School of the Arts. Recipients must be enrolled in both classical guitar lessons and in the VCU Guitar Ensemble. The scholarship is renewable and may be awarded to new or continuing students.
