Hans S. Falck Scholarship

Friends, colleagues and family members established the Hans S. Falck Scholarship in the School of Social Work. Hans S. Falck, Ph.D., professor emeritus in the VCU School of Social Work, had a history of distinguished service to the community and profession, and his leadership on both the local and national level enhanced and promoted the relationship between social work education and practice in the field.

The School of Social Work awards the Hans S. Falck Scholarship to registered doctoral students who have successfully passed their comprehensive examinations and are actively engaged in conducting their dissertation research. This research seeks to advance knowledge about human health and community, defined broadly, and the proposed dissertation research adheres to the intent of the scholarship. This scholarship is for continuing students only.

To apply for the scholarship, students should submit:
A succinct summary of their dissertation research, including a timeline for completion of the research, and discusses how the scholarship dollars will be used in the conduct of the research
A letter of support from the applicant’s dissertation chair that includes an assessment of the Ph.D. student/candidate’s progress toward the completion of the degree
A current CV
