Marvin Sims Memorial Scholarship

The Marvin Sims Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by family, friends, and colleagues of Marvin Sims, who passed away in 2003. Marvin was Head of Performance for VCU’s Department of Theatre and was also president of the Association for Theatre in High Education and immediate past-president of the Black Theatre Network at the time of his death. A former board member of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, he also helped found the Theatre of Diverse Voices at VCU. The scholarship is awarded in ongoing recognition of Marvin’s legacy of teaching, acting, directing, and service to the theatre industry. It is awarded to students in the Department of Theatre who display individual achievement, academic excellence, financial need, and who contribute to the School’s diversity.
