James T. Moore Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was established in 2008 by faculty and faculty emeriti of the Department of History, the College of Humanities and Sciences and alumni and friends of The College in honor of James Tice Moore, Ph.D., who taught history at VCU for 31 years. Moore passed away in the spring of 2009.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Preference is intended for applicants who are employed in public or private middle or secondary schools as history/social studies teachers, and who are also graduate students enrolled in the Department of History M.A. program with at least 12 hours of completed coursework toward their graduate degree, the committee has flexibility in selecting the candidate who best meets the guidelines suggested by Dr. Moore.
REQUIRED MATERIALS AND ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
- Eligible applicants should submit a statement of no more than 250 words explaining the importance of their teaching career in History.
- Applicants should request and obtain from faculty two letters of recommendation, uploaded to the scholarship portal. These letters should speak to their achievements and potential as a teacher and will be used in the scholarship assessment.
