Yvonne Engleson Rodriguez Benner Scholarship

Established by family and friends in honor of Yvonne Engleson Rodriguez Benner, an active and admired member of VCU’s Board of Visitors and an advocate of higher education who passed away in August 2001, the Yvonne Engleson Rodriguez Benner Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student studying journalism, government, English, international affairs, or a related field. Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated interest in or a commitment to working with the LatinX community. Examples of demonstrated interest may include, but are not limited to, students’ coursework and involvement in student organizations. The scholarship will continue to be able to be renewed for an additional three years provided the student remains in good academic standing.

Please note: If the current recipient is renewed per the terms of this scholarship, applications to the current cycle will not be considered. We do encourage applications during each cycle should the current recipient not be renewed.
