Barbara A. Roby Scholarship Fund

In 1989, Shirley G. Roby and her mother, Irene S. Roby, established the Barbara A. Roby Scholarship in memory of their sister and daughter, respectively. Barbara A. Roby, who was physically disabled, graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in social welfare, and the following year received her Master of Science degree in rehabilitative counseling from VCU’s School of Community and Public Affairs. At the time of her death, Barbara Roby was a rehabilitation counselor for Virginia’s Department of Rehabilitative Counseling. The scholarship honors Barbara Roby’s dedication to helping the disabled. The Roby scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need and who have a disability.
