William B. Fitzhugh Scholarship

The scholarship is named for Dr. William B. FitzHugh, a 1950 graduate of the MCV School of Dentistry. FitzHugh was born on Aug. 26, 1917, and died on Nov. 11, 1987.

FitzHugh, a Richmond native, attended the University of Richmond where he played center on the school’s football team. After he graduated from the MCV School of Dentistry, he practiced dentistry in Richmond and served on the MCV School of Dentistry faculty part-time for more than 30 years.

FitzHugh was a past president of the Richmond Dental Society and the Virginia Dental Association. He was a Fellow in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists and was the first recipient of the Richmond Dental Society’s Harry Lyons Award.

FitzHugh loved practicing dentistry and had a true passion for teaching.
