Gail Coles and Kevin Johnson Family Scholarship

To provide scholarship support for undergraduate students in the School of Business who demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of diversity and have financial need. Applicants must hold at least sophomore status and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. The scholarship is renewable. Additionally, preference for the scholarship may be given to a student who participates in an alumni mentoring program, such as the VCU Alumni African American Alumni Council’s Mentoring Circle or career programs with similar intent.

The fund will provide scholarship support for undergraduate students in the School of Business who demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of diversity and are approved to participate in a study abroad program with priority given to students participate in the International Consulting Program (ICP). The scholarship may help cover out-of-pocket expenses for the ICP program, including the program fee. Preference will be given to students who meet one or more of the following criteria:

1. Candidates who have transferred from any HBCU, or
2. Candidates who are members of VCU student organizations that embrace and promote diversity such as:
Black Awakening Choir at VCU
Black Excellence at VCU
Black Student Union
Black Women in STEM
Collegiate 100
National Association of Black Accountants
National Society of Black Engineers
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
