The John DeMao, Jr. Student Fund was established to support undergraduate and/or graduate Graphic Design majors with travel related to research projects. To be considered for funding, submit this application by the published deadline.
John DeMao, Jr. served as Chair of the Graphic Design Department from 1988 through the early 2000s. He ushered the originally named Communication Arts and Design Department, comprised of Graphic Design, Illustration and Kinetic Imaging, into the current standalone Graphic Design Department of today. He was the Associate Dean of VCUarts Qatar from 2002-2008 and briefly returned in 2011 as Interim GDES Department Chair prior to his retirement. John continues to foster the growth of GDES students with this fund in his name.
