The Allen N. Lewis Scholarship provides financial support and personal encouragement to Art Education majors who intend to become teachers at the elementary, secondary, or college level. Scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated high academic achievements in Art Education on the following basis: expressed interest and commitment to a career in teaching art at the elementary, secondary or college level; service to academic community and/or community-at-large; full-time student in good standing; rising juniors and seniors who have earned at least 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have financial need.

Established in 1972 by Mr. Fred T. Hyland in honor of his wife, Ruth Hibbs Hyland, the Hyland Scholarship is designated for sophomores, juniors, and seniors majoring in Art Education. Mrs. Hyland was a 20-year faculty member in the School of the Arts and was the sister of Dr. Henry Hibbs, founder of the Richmond Professional Institute. Selection of recipients is based on academic merit, leadership qualities, financial need, and teaching potential.
