Arnold P. Fleshood Scholarship Fund in the School of Education

The Arnold P. Fleshood Scholarship was established by School of Education faculty and alumni in honor of Dr. Arnold P. Fleshood, who joined the Richmond Professional Institute in 1965 to head the Department of Elementary Education. In the fall of 1968, he was appointed Dean of the School of Education. Upon his retirement in 1984, Dr. Fleshood became a professor emeritus at the school. The Fleshood scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in a School of Education graduate program in reading/language education or a related field and who have indicated an interest in the teaching of reading/language education. Applicants must submit essay answering the following prompt: Define your unique underserved target population. Include skills, training, experience and interest in working with target population. (Note: this will replace the essay prompt in the application)
