April Marie 'Sweet' Hart Scholarship

Friends and family of April Marie Hart have established the April Marie “Sweet” Hart Scholarship in her memory. April was an accomplished VCU student who planned to be a first-grade teacher. She loved children, cheerleading, and teaching gymnastics to her students at the East Richmond Gymnastics Center in Richmond. April passed away June 25, 2003 at the age of 20. The Hart Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students majoring in a discipline within the College of Humanities and Sciences or School or Education, with plans to become teachers and who are on the education track. Preference is given to those with a demonstrated interest in gymnastics or cheerleading. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must include present or previous demonstrated interest in gymnastics or cheerleading in their application essay.
