D'Arcy Mays and James Mays Scholarship

The D’arcy Mays and James Mays Scholarship was created through a pledged gift by D’arcy P. Mays III, Ph.D. and James E. Mays, Ph.D., to support undergraduate students in the College of Humanities and Sciences. Preference is given to first-year students, and students may receive the scholarship for up to a maximum of four years, as long as they maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and are continuously enrolled at VCU. Preference will also be given to applicants who have a permanent address in Sussex County, Dinwiddie County, Petersburg, and/or Colonial Heights. The fund honors the donors’ parents, Anita W. Mays and D’Arcy P. Mays, Jr., both of whom were born in and served as educators in the area.
